Emma left Prudhoe High School in 1995 to go to Heriot Watt University to take a Business degree. In her final year she took a Logistics course – Purchasing, Supply Chain and Logistics. Her university experience and the careers advice she was able to access heavily influenced her decision to embark upon a career in the logistics industry.
Managing and analysing data
On leaving university Emma joined Hewlett Packard as a Production Planner, a logistics related job. After four years she then moved to her current company, Menzies Distribution Ltd as a Logistics Analyst. This job involved managing company fuel cards and fuel spend, managing the data from weighbridges and vehicle routing. After three and a half years in this role Emma was promoted to her current position, as one of three Senior Account Managers in the company. In this role she takes responsibility for the accounts of Asda, Morrisons and Somerfield. She also line manages a number of Menzies staff. Emma says “I am very happy with my career choice and particularly with the role I now have in the company. The industry has given me many opportunities to develop my career.”
