Personal profile
- Age: 18
- Occupation: Transport Trainee
- Employer: Maxim Logistics Ltd
- Location: Corby

David had always been interested in driving, so when it came to choosing his work experience placement at school he decided that a logistics company would be the ideal destination. David joined Maxim Logistics Ltd for two weeks and certainly impressed his colleagues, so much so that they encouraged him to contact them after he left school.
Developing knowledge of the business
Just before David left school he got in touch with Maxim’s again and shortly afterwards was invited to interview, which led to him being offered the job of Transport Trainee. Since then David has not looked back. He’s been given a comprehensive induction to the company which has involved everything from accepting deliveries in the warehouse to dealing with customers from across the United Kingdom. One of his responsibilities has been to ensure that the company’s drivers know exactly what goods need to be picked up, where they need to be collected from and taken to and when the delivery needs to take place. But it’s not all office based work. David recently passed his driving test and now drives Large Goods Vehicles himself. Since then he’s made a number of deliveries to clients across the UK.
David says
“I’ve always wanted to be a driver, so I’m very happy with my job at Maxim’s. I meet new people when I’m out on the road and I learn new things every day. Dealing with the company’s customers is also a very rewarding part of my job, as I’m helping them get what they need when they need it.”
