How do you run a warehouse and make sure that goods leave on time? Is there any technology out there that can help with this?  At Proteus Software we design, write and install warehouse management software and systems. Established in 1987, we supply over 500 systems to a wide variety of industries.

Our systems track an item’s journey all the way to the customer.  At every point, the management team can see where stock is located, how many items there are in stock, when to re-order items if stock levels are low and when to pick an item for shipping. With this software in place, processes within a warehouse operation – including stock-taking, delivery of goods inwards and goods going out – become automatic.

In the simplest of terms it is a management tool that helps companies to ensure that goods ordered by customers get delivered to them at the right place and on time, wherever they are in the world. Indeed, working for Proteus can lead to an international career – their UK office is based in Birmingham, but they also provide systems in Ireland, South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, France and Germany.

Linda Rodway, Market Development Manager of Proteus Software says, “The logistics industry is an exciting industry to be involved in, and the use of technology is growing at a very fast rate.  With so many logistics companies adopting its use, it is becoming standard to have a warehouse management system in place.  Never did I imagine when I first started my role that this would turn out to be such an exciting, interesting and rewarding career.”
