Logistics could deliver a star-studded career path to suit you

Alert the paparazzi, celebs on the move!  Getting things and people from A to B is important for stars from the world of sport, music and TV too.  Who knows, you could get involved and find a star-studded logistics career path to suit you.

Music

Want to be a roadie?

It’s a busy life on the road – keeping the vehicles and the band on the move, checking the equipment, up and down the motorway and overnight at motels and hotels. But the perks are great – you’re guaranteed a VIP backstage pass and who knows what celebrities you could meet at those after show parties.  And if you love music, well, what could be better (except perhaps being in the band yourself!).  Find out how to become a roadie.

FACT! We’re not sure whether he moves his own stadium-shaking amps around, but it’s a little known fact that Liam Gallagher of Oasis owns no less than four forklift trucks!  Well our kid, ‘Don’t look back in anger’ (without first turning the reversing bleeper on).

Have you tried our great new game Articulated Monkeys?  Help the band get from LA to the stadium on time!

Sport

Are you game?

Sporting celebrities Usain Bolt, Andy Murray and a whole pack of medal-winning British cyclists will be relying on logistics companies to do their job in London and across the UK to make the games a success – and give them their chance to go for gold.  Find out more about how a huge international sporting event comes together – and how you could play your part – on the London 2012 website.

FACT! Former boxing world champion Chris Eubank is the infamous owner of an American Peterbilt 379 Truck Cab, which (allegedly) is the largest truck in Europe.

TV

Secret Millionaire

You could make millions in the logistics business.  Hilary Devey did, building up a company turning over £100 million a year in the road haulage industry. On Channel 4’s popular series Secret Millionaire, Hilary moves to Rochdale to see if she can help the poverty-stricken local residents. View the programme on Channel 4 OD.

FACT! Celebrity presenter of another millionaire TV production Chris Tarrant used to drive lorries.  The presenter of ‘’Who wants to be a millionaire?’ pursued a number of jobs before finding his feet in TV and radio, including long-distance lorry driver, security officer and schoolteacher.
