Get the facts
Let’s get back to basics with the nitty gritty of logistics. Find out what exactly logistics is, how many businesses are involved and what’s going on close to home.
What is logistics?
It’s about moving, supplying and storing goods around the UK and the rest of the world, for every kind of business. It’s also about delivering your letters and parcels and helping you move house. Whether it’s your trainers, your laptop, your cornflakes or your sofa, getting these things from A to B on time by road, rail, sea or air is what logistics is all about.
It takes over 2.3 million people working across 188,445 businesses in the UK alone to do this work, that’s 1 in 12 of all jobs. It’s hardly surprising the UK logistics industry is worth over £96 billion every year.
Whatever you’re into, you’ll find a job that’s right for you. Logistics offers a huge variety of careers, including driving, planning, removals and stock control.
